Description

Indulge in a comforting and creamy one-pan meal with this Creamy Turkey Broccoli Skillet. Made with savory turkey sausage, tender broccoli, penne pasta, and a rich cheddar cheese sauce, it’s a 30-minute dinner the whole family will love.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces penne pasta
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 13.9 ounces turkey sausage, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Boil the penne pasta according to package instructions. During the last two minutes of boiling, add the broccoli florets. Drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced turkey sausage and sauté until browned, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for about 3 minutes, or until the onion is softened.

4. In a bowl, whisk the whole milk with a tablespoon of cornstarch until smooth. Pour the mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cook for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens.

5. Reduce heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.

6. Add the cooked pasta and broccoli to the skillet and stir to combine with the sauce.

7. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, use smoked turkey sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes. This dish reheats well and can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Swap penne with your favorite pasta shape, or use gluten-free pasta if needed.
