Ingredients
For the turnovers:
- 1 can refrigerated biscuits
- 3 cooking apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 4 tbsp light brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp melted butter
For the glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or apple schnapps
- water, as needed
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples with brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and melted butter. Stir until evenly coated.
3. Flatten each biscuit into a circle on a lightly floured surface using your hands or a rolling pin.
4. Place a spoonful of apple mixture in the center of each dough circle.
5. Fold biscuits over to form a half-moon shape and crimp edges with a fork to seal.
6. Place turnovers on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.
7. Let cool slightly before glazing.
8. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and vanilla extract (or schnapps), adding water a few drops at a time until smooth and pourable.
9. Drizzle glaze over warm turnovers and serve.
Notes
Let the turnovers cool slightly before glazing to help the glaze stick better.
You can substitute apple schnapps in the glaze for extra apple flavor.
Serve warm for the best texture and taste.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or reheat briefly in the oven.
