Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups chopped apples (peeled, approximately 2 medium apples)
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking pan with non-stick spray or butter.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and dark brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
6. Fold in the chopped apples and walnuts until evenly distributed.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
8. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
10. Slice and serve as is, or with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
Notes
Use sweet apple varieties like Honeycrisp or Gala for the best flavor.
Do not overmix once apples and walnuts are added to preserve cake texture.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
