Description

Honey lemon pepper wings are crispy oven-baked chicken wings glazed with a sticky, sweet, peppery sauce with a citrus kick. Make this recipe in the oven or air fryer and enjoy a delicious appetizer, snack, or entree. (This recipe is naturally gluten-free.)


Ingredients

  • 2.5 lbs chicken wings (drums and flats, defrosted if frozen)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder (not baking soda)
  • For the Honey Lemon Pepper Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • Zest from one lemon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red crushed pepper (optional)


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.

2. Season the wings with lemon pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and baking powder.

3. Place the seasoned wings on an oven-safe wire rack in a single layer. Bake for 40 minutes, flipping halfway through.

4. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, honey, lemon zest, lemon juice, lemon pepper seasoning, and red crushed pepper to make the sauce.

5. Toss the baked wings in the honey lemon pepper sauce until fully coated.

6. Return wings to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

7. Toss the wings in more honey lemon pepper sauce before serving and enjoy!


Notes

Make your own lemon pepper seasoning using 1 tablespoon of lemon zest, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

For extra crispy wings, make sure they are patted dry before seasoning.

This recipe is naturally gluten-free.

Wings can also be prepared in the air fryer at 400°F for about 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
