Description

A healthier twist on the classic meatloaf, this Turkey Meatloaf is packed with flavor, lean protein, and a sweet glaze that makes it irresistible. It’s simple to prepare, moist, and perfect for dinner or meal prep. This recipe is a great way to enjoy a comforting favorite without the guilt!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (regular or gluten-free)
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a skillet, sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until softened. Set aside to cool.

3. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, oregano, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper. Add the sautéed onion and garlic, then mix until just combined (don’t overmix).

4. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it on the prepared pan.

5. In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, honey, and apple cider vinegar. Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

6. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For added moisture, you can use ground chicken or even mix in finely grated carrots or zucchini.
  • To make this recipe gluten-free, simply substitute breadcrumbs with oats or gluten-free breadcrumbs.
  • You can freeze leftovers by wrapping them tightly in foil or plastic wrap, then storing in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a simple salad for a complete meal.
