Description

Oven roasted turkey breast is a simple, juicy, and flavorful main dish that’s perfect for holiday meals or any family dinner. Seasoned with herbs, garlic, and butter, it delivers tender meat with golden, crispy skin.

Ingredients

  • 9 lb bone-in turkey breast, skin on
  • 1 large onion, peeled and sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Place the turkey breast skin-side up in a roasting pan with a rack, or use a lightly greased 9×13 baking dish.

3. In a small pan, combine melted butter, garlic, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper.

4. Use a basting brush to rub the butter mixture all over the turkey breast.

5. Place the sliced onion in the bottom of the pan, then set the turkey on top of the onions.

6. Bake for 13–15 minutes per pound (about 2 hours for a 9 lb turkey), until the internal temperature reaches 160°F. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.

7. Remove turkey from oven, loosely cover with foil, and let rest for at least 5 minutes.

8. Slice and serve warm. Enjoy!

Notes

Letting the turkey rest after roasting helps the juices redistribute for a moister result.

If using a smaller or larger turkey breast, adjust the cook time accordingly using 13–15 minutes per pound as a guide.

This turkey breast pairs well with gravy, cranberry sauce, or your favorite holiday sides.
