Slow Cooker Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls are a hearty and fuss-free twist on the traditional dish. Enjoy the savory flavors of cabbage rolls without the rolling—just layer everything in your crockpot and let it simmer to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
- 1 can (14 oz) petite diced tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
1. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until still slightly pink. Drain any excess fat.
2. Add diced onion, thyme, parsley, red pepper flakes, and salt to the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes until onion softens.
3. Transfer the beef and onion mixture to the slow cooker.
4. Add chopped cabbage on top of the meat mixture.
5. In a mixing bowl, stir together diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water.
6. Pour the sauce over the cabbage and meat in the slow cooker.
7. Mix gently to combine all ingredients.
8. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours until the cabbage is tender and flavors are well blended.
9. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
Add cooked rice near the end for a more filling meal.
Leftovers store well and taste even better the next day.
